Product Description

COBRA Flying Fox Pulley (for 10mm - 12mm wire rope)

The COBRA Flying Fox (Zip Line) wire rope pulley represents the most advanced design work using state of the art engineering techniques to build one of the safest and finest flying fox pulleys there is for the challenge ropes course industry. Imported all the way from the USA for immediate use on Australian challenge ropes courses. This bad baby is a fast pulley! Regularly used on flying foxes at many of our outdoor recreation campsite's throughout Australia & New Zealand.

If you are thinking that you recognise this pulley from a classic movie, the answer is, 'Yes' - you are correct. Four of the COBRA Flying Fox Pulley's were used on zip lines in the making of the classic movie "The Last Stand" (2013) staring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Forest Whitaker & Johnny Knoxville, where the bad guys escape from the top of one building, over to the next.

The HEAVY DUTY Cobra Pulley frame is a two piece design with two axles which, when used with the back-up safety slot at the rear of the pulley, adds two levels of security to every participant on your course. The 304 Grade stainless steel frame is extra thick for superior strength, of which well & truly exceeds ACCT’s & PRCA's 2,268kg Standard and enables 'trouble-free' use on wire rope cables.

The pulley sheaves are Stainless Steel and spin on sealed ball bearings to provide excellent wear characteristics in challenging outdoor environments. The 304 stainless steel axles are time tested performers and have been in use on zip lines and flying foxes for well over 40 years in the USA.

We highly recommend the DOUBLE TETHER (extra safety attachment also available on this website) is connected to the pulley with either an oval carabiner (eg. Petzl OK, the Omega Oval screwgate/auto-locking carabiner), or an M14 Maillon Rapide quick link (we stock each of these items also). The DOUBLE TETHER has the double strap feature which enables the additional STEEL CARABINER to be connected to the top of this pulley. This keeps the participant lower from the 'dynamic' parts of the pulley during use and also keeps hands and hair well away also! This is the added safety feature of the COBRA Pulley.

Bottom Line: "The COBRA Pulley would be one of the best & most durable flying fox pulleys available on the International market that we have used in a very long while!"

  • Independently Tested to 4,990kg
  • Wire Rope Size Suitability: 10mm - 12mm wire rope  (this manufacturer also designs this model for 16mm - 20mm wire rope)
  • Exceeds ACCT and also PRCA International Standards
  • Recommendation 1: That a DOUBLE TETHER is used with this unit, which has a safety 'back-up' feature connecting the participant twice to the pulley
  • Recommendation 2: That a STEEL Carabiner is attached to the top rear hole which acts as a safety 'back-up' connection point - a great feature on this heavy duty pulley

NOTE:  Many of our Australian campsites and Outdoor Education Centres have 'upgraded' their Flying Fox with these HEAVY DUTY units around the Nation. If you require several units, these are available as a bulk Pre-Order which takes 14 - 21 days to arrive - this includes FREE standard shipping.

  2. Great Company to do business with

“I was very pleased with my recent purchase of some flying fox equipment and rigging gear. The products were all shipped on time and the price was better than other sites I had looked at over in the Eastern States. I also like the fact that OGA is a family-based business in Western Australia – as we’re trying to keep all our purchases as local as possible.”
